01 · Who runs this site

02 · First-party analytics (no cookies)

The site counts visits, sections viewed, clicks and time on page so I can see whether the page is useful. It sets no cookies. A random session ID is kept in your browser's session storage and disappears when you close the tab. Your IP address is never stored: it is turned into a salted hash that changes every day and is used only to stop abuse. This runs under the UK exemption for analytics that improve a service. You can switch it off below.

03 · Google Analytics (only with consent)

If you accept analytics in the cookie banner, Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 load and set cookies to measure visits. Before you choose, nothing from Google loads, and Google Consent Mode is set to denied. Advertising storage is always denied. You can change your choice at any time.

04 · Personalised links

Some links include a company name (for example ?for=company). Visits through those links are recorded against that company so I know the link was opened. The first time a link is opened I get an email with the time, device type and, where available, an approximate city derived from the connection. The IP address itself is not stored.

05 · The "Ask about Josh" chat

Questions you type, and the answers, are stored so I can see what people want to know. Please do not include personal information. Questions are sent to Anthropic to generate the answer.

06 · Retention and your rights

Analytics and chat logs are kept for up to 24 months. You can ask for access to, or deletion of, anything linked to you by emailing joshuabond1@icloud.com. You can also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
